Geordie Rock is a site dedicated to showcasing some great independent musicians and composers from North East England. Writers and performers who are driven by a devotion to their craft and a love of music and fiercely proud of their local heritage.
Musical Juice
Juice have been around for many years and are without doubt one of the most innovative rock bands to come out of the North East. They've always been outsiders and never part of the mainstream. Amazingly, they are still together and still writing and performing. Check out their website Musical Juice
Joicey Project
Joicey started out as an underground rock band, but progressed to become a whole new alternative lifestyle. The band moved from the North East to settle in London where they started a movement that has since become a thriving community. Over time, their numbers and stature have steadily grown and thousands of families are now involved. They have recently started the Joicey Project in Newcastle and have plans to expand to other areas of the UK.
Lee Turner
Lee Turner is a talented North East songwriter, originally from Stockton-on-Tees, but now living in Sunderland. Check out more great music on Lee's website
Steve Nielson
Steve Nielson is a born and bred Geordie and as a journalist, he reports on a wide range of subjects and regularly pays homage to the people of the North East. He is also a very prolific songwriter. Check out the many stories and songs on his website Musical Pearls
Aaron
I haven't got a lot of information to give about Aaron since he's a bit of a recluse. Although he has a huge cult following, he's a very elusive and private person and dislikes publicity and being the centre of attention. Having said that, he absolutely comes alive on stage in front of an audience and his performances are pure magic.
This Side Of Life
This Side Of Life is a country rock band formed by inmates currently serving full life sentences in a maximum security prison. It's a very controversial project that is attempting to use Music Therapy to rehabilitate some of the country's worst offenders. Check out more music on their website This Side Of Life.
Arlenderre
Arlenderre is a real mystery. A completely independent singer/songwriter and another performer with no ambitions to enter the mainstream. Instead, he prefers the artistic freedom and relative anonymity of the underground movement. For more music, check out his website Arlenderre
Skeleton
Skeleton is a jazz/rock band from Sunderland who write and perform in their own very unique style. The members of the band are all orthopedic doctors specialising in bone and joint injuries, hence the name of the band. However, they are also extremely competent musicians and composers who mainly perforrn at charity events to raise money for good causes across the region.
John Norris
John has been performing his own brand of music since the 1970's. He's often described as a punk artiste since he was there with many other rebels at the beginning of the punk movement, but he is far too versatile and complex to place a label on him. Most of his contemporaries eventually sold out to the record companies and became mainstream 'poseurs' and part of the establishment, whereas John has always held on to his principles.
Breaking All The Rules
Breaking All The Rules is a free theatre group made up of actors and musicians who tour major towns and cities and put on a variety of extraordinary performances and entertainment on the streets. They are all very talented individuals, each with an appealing character and stage presence.
Big Jim Gibson and his family are a group of musicians who are resident at the Shack. Their workload is incredible. The place never seems to close. People travel far and wide to be there and the music and dancing goes on all day and night and into the early hours. Gibba's extended family take it in shifts to entertain their audience with a huge repertoire of music that defies belief. From country classics to avant garde rock. There are also many guest artistes who drop by and perform just to be part of this amazing experience.
